BOX AND CHAIN

Metal Box | Chain | Monofilament | 24” x 60” x 15”

Much of my work reflects conflict and the juxtaposition of polarizing elements. Often the title has a tongue in cheek meaning. Box and Chain is a play on the demeaning turn of phrase “the old ball and chain” as it refers to a nagging wife. Box is a slang word for vagina. I like to find and feel empowerment when I create and this piece reflects a beautiful “box” with a shiny “clitoris” hanging from the rusty chain. The Box hanging proudly, for all to see, albeit-with the innate attachments that come with a history of being told we are “the weaker sex”. Not so.
